Missing man's remains found inside a shark

Human Remains Found In Shark's Stomach After Man Goes Missing In Argentina, Tattoo Helps Family Identify Him

Diego Barria, 32, vanished a few days ago after driving his all-terrain vehicle along the Chubut province's southern coast in Argentina. A search team discovered the wrecked ATV on February 20 at a beach close to Rocas Coloradas.

Barria's helmet, which was dented and broken near the chin, was also found by the search team.

On Sunday, February 26, two fishermen caught three school sharks close to the Barria ATV location. As they were cleaning one of the sharks, they made a startling discovery. They contacted the coastguard authorities as soon as they discovered the man's remains.

Officer Daniela Millatruz, the officer in charge of the case's investigation, told local media that they are assuming Barria was involved in an accident and they have been looking into the possibility that another vehicle was also involved.

The distinctive tattoo that was visible on the severed arm helped the victim's family recognise the remains. To confirm that the remains are indeed his, a DNA test is being done.

According to Cristian Ansaldo, head of the Comodoro Rivadavia police department, the school shark that contained the human remains was about 4.9 feet long. He added that the weekend Barria disappeared, there was a significant tidal surge. Civil Protection spokesman Jose Mazzei said that there are two possibilities for how the man got into the water.

"The first is that he was hurt. The second, more credible theory is that the quad injury caused him to be knocked out on the coast, where the strong high tide dragged him away. All potential causes are currently being investigated, but the exact cause of the death is still unknown.

Barra may have been riding the quad bike when it crashed into a rock, though the exact cause of the incident is unknown. The shark could have eaten his body if it had been transported to the ocean. Smaller fish and invertebrates make up the majority of sharks' diets.

Although they are opportunistic feeders, it has been reported that they do occasionally consume humans. The majority of shark attacks on people happen when they approach them out of curiosity or believe they are their usual prey.

USE COMMON SENSE
A simple explanation of the word unprovoked is chosen to be shared. Each year shark attack researchers choose certain shark attacks they share with the public. The ISAF website states, “All of the data publically available on the ISAF website is from unprovoked incidents.” Ocean users, beware that the ISAF has 6800 incidents on file, with only 3292, or 47%, being chosen to be shared with the public. In 2019 they chose 45%, and in 2020 they only chose 44% of the investigated incidents.
