A uni student has been bitten by a shark at Rottnest Island, after catching it by the tail.
The young man is relatively unharmed but was left red-faced after the wobbegong he grabbed bit him on the arm.
Rottnest police confirmed the incident happened and tweeted a picture of the young man, the shark and his injury.
When the university student decided to pick the shark up by the tail it whipped around and bit him on the arm.
Fisheries say although these sharks rarely attack people, if they do, they can give people a nasty bite.
The shark was returned to the water and the young man sought some medical attention for his injury.
