Bull shark takes chomp at jet ski just metres from North Stradbroke Island shoreline
A jet ski rider has been attacked by a three metre bull shark off Queensland’s North Stradbroke Island.
Rick Manning described the ordeal as frightening and says he was fortunate not to have been injured during the encounter as chunks were bitten out of his water craft.
The interaction played out on Saturday, just 20 metres off the shore. Mr Manning said bait fish had been spotted before a drone was sent up.
“Sure enough there was about five sharks there,” he said.
Mr Manning said one of the sharks was initially timid, circling a couple of times at a safe distance, before it turned aggressive.
“(The shark) just turned. I was like, ‘oh, here we go’,” Mr Manning said, revealing he’d seen the shark’s jaws open.
