She is a 36-year-old female, a tourist from the Carnival Cruise ship Carnival Legend.
The cruise ship visited Moorea. A stingray interaction is one of the many seaside activities offered to tourists. It takes place in the Tiahura lagoon opposite the Intercontinental Resort. Contrary to the regulations of the tour operators, the woman was attempting to feed fish, when a shark nipped her thumb and finger.
