Max Longhurst and Joel Vanderstelt were surfing about 100m away from where the incident happened.

A shark attacked Max's surfboard, and said he punched it in the head.

Joel went over to help, and Max was able to scare the shark away.

The youths weren't sure but presumed it was the same shark that had been involved in the nearby incident.

A fifteen-year-old Victor Harbor bodyboarder has spoken about being bitten by a shark at Middleton Point on Wednesday, June 18.

Jesse McKinnon was taken to South Coast District Hospital on Wednesday night and received 27 stitches to the bite wounds on his knee and around his leg.

Jesse was bodyboarding with friends at the popular surfing spot about 5pm when the attack occurred.

He said the shark came up from behind him, but at first he thought it was his mates Lachlan and Bradley Borrillo.

However, he turned around and saw the shark. Jesse hit the shark on its head with his bodyboard and then rode the next wave in. Jesse does not know what sort of shark it was.

He was helped from the water by local surfer and school teacher Danny Robinson.

Jesse said the attack won't stop him from going out into the water again.
