A close call for a Big Island surfer who got up close and personal with a shark.
This chunk out of Dylan Crawford's surfboard shows just how close he got.
Crawford was surfing at Kawaa Beach in Kau Thursday morning when something knocked him off his board.
"The next thing I know, I realize, okay there's a large animal next to me," he said. "I was right next to it for a second, basically touching it. And when it submerged, it pulled me down on top of it."
Turns out it was a tiger shark, about 8 feet long.
Crawford immediately got back on his board.
As he paddled in, he noticed the bite mark.
