A 12-year-old boy was bitten by a lemon shark (negaprion brevirostris) during a hook fishing in Fernando de Noronha (PE). The boy had his toe cut off, got two stitches and is doing well. The video showing the moment of the bite has viralized in recent days on social networks. The incident occurred on Porto beach on May 4. The boy caught the shark cub using a line and a hook and pulled it out of the water. The shark did not release the boy's foot until two people grasped part of the animal's head with a tool and opened the fish's mouth with a knife. A biologist heard by UOL said the animal did not attack the boy, acting only in an act of defense. The incident was filmed by one of the boy's family members.
