Harold has contacted SAS and offered pictures of the injury and maybe possibly will give us the exact details of the incident.

Harold did give us the exact details and injury pictures.

We have a SAS report on this bite located here http://sharkattacksurvivors.com/index_f ... ander.html

We didn't have a chance to resize the pictures or create a great PDF. If you have a dialup you want to view the PDF file here
http://sharkattacksurvivors.com/index_f ... rander.pdf

This is a 1 mb page it will take a while.

Volusia records first shark bite of year

Staff Report
'A 25-year-old Edgewater man became the first shark bite victim in Volusia County for 2008, a Beach Patrol spokesman said Sunday.

The bite on the surfer's left foot took place about 200 yards south of Ponce de Leon Inlet's south jetty about 5 p.m. Friday.

"It's the typical Volusia County bite," Capt. Scott Petersohn said. "Surfer. Murky water. Sitting there with his feet dangling.

"He did have some lacerations. Nothing life-threatening," he said. "We bandaged him up and he drove himself to the hospital (Bert Fish Medical Center.)"

The surfer's name was not available Sunday, Petersohn said.

According to the University of Florida's 2007 International Shark Attack File, Volusia County was the shark bite capital of the world last year for at least the sixth year running, with 17 reported attacks.

In a recent interview Petersohn said he thought the county's attacks would drop to levels equal other parts of coast Central Florida if the area south of the Ponce de Leon Inlet's south jetty in New Smyrna Beach wasn't a factor. But in that zone all the factors needed for bites -- sharks, people, bait, and murky water -- combine into a perfect storm, he said.
