The chairman of the State Committee for Monitoring Incidents with Sharks (CEMETERY), Rosangela Lessa told the G1's family Bruna Silva Gobbi, 18, attacked by a shark on Monday (22), on the beach of Boa Viagem, in Recife, was informed by the Fire Department who was in a hazardous area. Even so, the group would have refused to leave the sea. "The family was approached by firefighters, who explained that it was an area where there was possibility of attacks and asked to leave the water. Then they were monitoring [the group] of the observation post, so they came to the point quickly, when the attack occurred, "said the professor, Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE). This was the 59th shark attack off the coast of Pernambuco since 1992, when it began the count.

This time of year is also a risk factor more, added the president CEMETERY. "We are in a period of troubled waters, where the probability of attacks is higher, because the winter rains and the large amount of suspended material that comes from rivers. Moreover, we have in the city a lot of people on vacation which often do not believe what the signs say, "he continued, referring to the signal that alerts you to the risk of shark attack on the coast of Pernambuco.

Rosangela Lessa also informed that the call "return current" was another complication. "It is a very strong current and need to swim very well to escape. Bruna and another person was with her were dragged further into the sea. Currents are common on any beach, is not a peculiarity of Recife, is not an exceptional situation . Exceptional is the person know who is at risk, be warned and stay in place.'s a set of factors predictable and undesirable, with terrible consequences for the victim, his family and the city, "he lamented.

The Hawker Leonardo Ferreira de Brito confirms information CEMETERY. "The current was pulling, they were trying to get back [to the side]. Fireman spoke three times for them not to enter the water. Two swimmers were trying to help, and two firefighters. Apoximou After the jetski was, was that sangueiro seemed Hollywood movie. Her leg 'tava' totally torn, "he said.

According to the president of CEMETERY, there are 44 pairs of plates indicating the occurrence of shark attacks, around 30 kilometers from the coast of Pernambuco - one of them, less than 100m from the scene of the second. No examination of the wound, it is not possible to determine the species of shark that attacked a young São Paulo. "We can only assume, within a very broad assumption, which are species that have been involved in previous incidents that are the flathead and the tiger," he added.

Recife, PE, July 22 (Folhapress) - A tourist paulistana 18 years had his leg amputated this afternoon, after being attacked by a shark in the Boa Viagem beach, in the south of Recife. The state of her health is serious.

Studies by UFRPE (Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco) attribute the presence of sharks on the edge of Pernambuco, among other factors, the environmental changes caused by the construction of the port of Suape in Cabo de Santo Agostinho.
A deep channel that follows the contour of the coastline facilitates the movement of animals close to the beaches. Several shark species were identified in the state, but most attacks are attributed to species and tiger flathead, considered the most aggressive in the world.
