CT teen survives shark attack
CAPE TOWN – The father of a 19-year-old boy who was bitten by a shark just off Die Plaat beach in the De Kelders area in the Cape says his son is very lucky to have survived.
Thomas Browne is recovering in hospital after being bitten by while surfing on Monday.
Browne’s father Jeremy explained what happened.
“They went into the water and the shark bit him from behind. He was bitten on his left eye but he’s fine. He went into surgery and is now recovering in hospital. He’s obviously very fortunate it wasn’t anything more serious.”
Correction!!!
Please guys I am the father of Thomas Browne , its his thigh and not his eye. Article does not make sense. He is still in hospital and from the doctors who preformed the surgery , the bite was only 1cm from major arteries. We are just so grateful he managed to survive this encounter.

I am so sorry to hear about your son’s injuries, & pray that he continues to recover, as well as the rest of your family from such a shocking incident, & injury. Being an EMTP for many years, I’ve seen both eye, & thigh injuries come very close to death, & believe regardless of where your son was attacked by the shark, the attack & injury is what’s recorded rather than the site of injury. Being from New England myself, I believe I’m able to attest that we’re not accustomed to the dangers of sharks, & have lived near the ocean most of my life.
I’m glad to hear your son is on the mend, & did not have damage to his artery, or worse. Being a parent of 3 boys, one of which is close to your son’s age, even though they are older, we seem to want to protect them like they’re still very young. Best wishes, & God bless you, your son, & the rest of your family!
